Pacers-Rockets preseason game tickets on sale June 16; prices start at Php550
MANILA, Philippines – Tickets for the NBA Global Games Philippines 2013 featuring the Houston Rockets and the Indiana Pacers will go on sale on Sunday, June 16, the NBA and SM announced Friday morning.
In a press conference at halftime during a Miami Heat-Indiana Pacers East finals Game 5 viewing party hosted by NBA Philippines and SM, it was announced that tickets for a seat at Section E of the Mall of Asia Arena will be sold for as low as Php550.
Other seats, meanwhile, will go for Php4,200 (Section D), Php8,400 (Section C), Php27,000 (Premium B) and Php32,300 (Premium A). Section C and D, and Premium A and B tickets come with free Global Games merchandise.
The selling will commence at 10 a.m. on June 16. The tickets are available for purchase online at: www.smtickets.com. Organizers said a total of 16,000 tickets will be available for sale to the public.
The game, which will be played on October 10, is part of the NBA’s comprehensive Global Games schedule and will be the league’s first preseason game in the Philippines and in Southeast Asia.
The Houston Rockets feature a dynamic young roster led by NBA All-Star and All-NBA selection James Harden, along with Jeremy Lin and Chandler Parsons. The team has played 13 games outside of the US and Canada, including four games in China, two each in 2004 and 2010, and two regular season games in Japan in 1992.
The Indiana Pacers, led by NBA All-Stars Paul George and Roy Hibbert, have played overseas twice, most recently in 2009 in Beijing and Taipei.
The NBA Global Games will see eight NBA teams play in eight cities in six countries this October. The schedule – which will also feature the Chicago Bulls, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, Oklahoma City Thunder, Philadelphia 76ers and Washington Wizards - will also include the first-ever NBA preseason game in Brazil, and in the cities of Bilbao, Spain, and Manchester, England. It will also include games in Beijing, Istanbul, Shanghai, and Taipei.

As a Filipino, it is flattering that we in Philippines will experience such event because everyone loves basketball but not just basketball but also the NBA. We Filipinos are really a big fan of NBA. Such event would give chance for some Filipino NBA fans to witness a live game in front of them. Also it gives chance for some businesses in Luzon part because it would lead to more tourist and benefit for them. Businesses will result into more production of goods to supply the needs of many customers. Also the government of the Philippines will benefit due to the tax and stuff.
The negative thing about the NBA coming in the Philippines is that not all have the privilege to witness the game, the tickets are expensive for some of the Filipinos and are overpriced. Also some establishment would not benefit in the event because the one who is going to benefit are those who are involved in the NBA event. For example, a food store will not be able to gain on the day of the event because the common costumers of that particular store are switching to the store which is in the location of the NBA event.
Although the NBA event in the Philippines have some negatives , the positive benefits are more than the negatives. I suggest that more event like that be held here in Philippines so that everyone will have a chance to see their idols and for business establishments to gain more. Also I suggest that if an event like that would happen in the future then the tickets should be sold in an affordable price so that everyone will have a chance to witness such event and also more profit for them because it will attract more costumers than that of their expected number of costumers. Keep up the smart thinking about increasing the business profit and all and for setting the goals for marginal productions and income.
